The recent Super Bowl in Atlanta was a mega event for the city of Atlanta and the campus of the Georgia World Congress Center. The Super Bowl Fan Experience in B Building at the GWCC was a great place for fans to see the sights of the NFL and experience interactive games and many other activities. The media center in Building A was packed with celebrities and radio/television broadcasts for a full week. Centennial Olympic Park was host to many concerts and events throughout Super Bowl week.
Television broadcasts were performed all during the week from the GWCC and CCLD helped pave the way for many of the them. Preparation work for the Super Bowl began years in advance and huge installation jobs were performed many months before the big game. CCLD installed approximately 563 miles of fiber optic cable that was used for television and radio broadcasts throughout the campus including runs from the GWCC to Mercedes Benz Stadium, State Farm Arena and Centennial Olympic Park.
CCLD also provided Wi-Fi service throughout the campus. Over 41,000 unique devices connected to the wireless service during the events. On average, the campus experienced bandwidth averages of more than 7Gbps for sustained periods during the week.
“With an estimated 500,000 guests coming to the GWCC and experiencing everything that was available, it was an amazing sight. Our campus seems like a perfect fit for events like this with everything so close and accessible. It was great to see everyone’s hard work and dedication pay off with a successful event for the campus and city. Hopefully, another Super Bowl will return to Atlanta soon.” – Blake Jenkins, CCLD Networks Event Technology Manager
